Surgical correction of chest and abdominal congenital anomalies in newborns is performed here. Esophageal atresia, trachea-esophageal fistula, diaphragm hernia, esophageal duplication, pylorostenosis, duodenal obstruction, intestinal atresia, intestinal duplication, Hirschsprung’s disease, rectal and anal atresia is the range of surgeries that are unique for Armenia. In the country these surgeries are performed exclusively in the “Sourb Astvatsamayr (St. Mary)” Medical Centre, saving many children's lives.
For the first time in Armenia the separation of conjoined twins (Siamese twins) was done here. |
