| Maternity Hospital |

The opening of Maternity Hospital took place on November 15, 1992. It was built and equipped by “Inso” Italian firm with financial support of “Good-Will Journalists to Future Armenia” international beneficent fund that was organized after devastating Spitak earthqwake in 1988.
Maternity Hospital is supplied with modern technological equipment. It is the clinical base of Yerevan State Medical University, where young obstetrics-gynecologists undergo their clinical residency.
“Sourb Astvatsamayr (St. Mary)” Medical Centre’s Maternity Hospital is the only one in Yerevan, which has its own chapel the “Sourb Hakob (St. Jakob)” matur-mkrtaran. It is the pride of Maternity Hospital, as the neonates can be christened there from the first days of their life. The chapel building was sponsored by Frenchman of Armenian origin Arthur Arakelyan in memory of his suddenly died son.
Maternity Hospital includes the following departments:
Antenatal Clinic
It provides maternal and fetal healthcare during pregnancy from the first weeks till baby birth.
Obstetrics Department
The department has individual delivery rooms and postnatal rooming-in from the first minutes of newborn life.
Neonatal Department
The department provides intensive care service to sick neonates.
Pathologic Pregnancy Department
The department provides in-patient treatment of women with complicated pregnancy by performing wide range of necessary clinical examinations and laboratory tests.
Gynecology Department
The department provides conservative treatment of women with relevant diseases, as well as their operative treatment including use of endoscopic and laparoscopic methods. |
